While we work hard to turn cars into the cure and eliminate drunk driving forever, families must continue to be vigilant on our roadways. You can help protect your family from drunk drivers by looking for these signs of intoxication among other motorists:
1. Quick acceleration or deceleration
2. Tailgating
3. Weaving or zig-zagging across the road
4. Driving anywhere other than on a road designated for vehicles
5. Almost striking an object, curb, or vehicle
6. Stopping without cause or erratic braking
7. Drifting in and out of traffic lanes
8. Signaling that is inconsistent with driving actions
9. Slow response to traffic signals (e.g. sudden stop or delayed start)
10. Straddling the center lane marker
11. Driving with headlights off at night
12. Swerving
13. Driving slower than 10 mph below the speed limit
14. Turning abruptly or illegally
15. Driving into opposing traffic on the wrong side of the road

Before and After
Jacqui Saburido is a living example of what true spirituality means. When she was just 19 years old, Jacqui and her friends were hit by a drunken driver. Two passengers were killed instantly. Jacqui was alive but suffered devastating burns on nearly 60 percent of her body. After 40 surgeries, Jacqui remained horribly disfigured. And, even though her everyday life is a struggle, Jacqui said she's glad to have survived. "I'm glad, because I want to live," she said. "I have a lot of things that I didn't, I haven't had time to do yet."

Driving under the influence (driving while intoxicated, drunk driving, operating under the influence, drinking and driving, impaired driving) is the act of operating any motorized machinery after/during consuming alcohol or other drugs.
Statistics:
In 2008, drunk drivers in the United States caused 11,733 deaths. This number represents almost one-third of all traffic-related deaths that year. More than 1.4 million drivers were arrested in 2008 for driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In the United States, younger people are more likely than older ones to be involved in an alcohol-related crash. Among all drivers meeting the legal standard of drunk driving in 2008, some 34 percent were ages twenty-one to twenty-four years, while 31 percent were ages twenty-five to thirty-four, and 25 percent were ages thirty-five to forty-four.
